Stadlkirchen is counted among the municipality of Dietach, with an old church in its center. Once it represented the ancestral seat of the "Stadler", an ancient noble dynasty.
A "Stadel" is a local depository to keep agricultural products like hey, corn or cereals on stock. The person or, in former days, the local dynasty that controls the Stadel was called "Stadler". Finding a name for the locality was easy after building the church: "Stadlkirchen" (church = "Kirche").
The first reference of the church originates from 1074 and was called "ecclesia ad Stadalen", found in a chronicle of St. Florian monastery.
In the year 1990 the genuine decoration inside the church has been restored.
In 1992/93 frescos in Presbyterium and on the eastern wall have been refurbished.
Today the church shows various original details from former eras. Characteristics may be found of:
Renaissance is exemplified by an Epitaph from the constructor of the main room, his memorial picture and tomb plate.
Baroque era may be determined in the crucifixion illustration on the eastern wall and by the painting of the altar.
Late gothic epoch is shown by the Stations of the Cross as well as in pictures and statues on the pillars.
The curch may be visited at any time, but is closed when there is no mass.
